The Puma is one of the most successful European helicopter co-productions and is used in over 45 countries!

This medium-lift helicopter was developed by Sud-Aviation in the early '60s, and later built by both Aerospatiale and Westland. The SA 330 J model was introduced in 1976 and its compact design offers seating for up to 20 passengers. It has a thermal de-icing system for the main and tail rotor blades and can be flown in all weather conditions. The first three SA 330 were delivered to the German Border Police (BGS) in 1973, followed by a further sixteen in 1977. The Puma was used for monitoring the Inner German Border as well as for disaster relief. For maritime rescue the Puma could also be fitted with inflatable floatation gear. A reorganization of the German Police Forces in July 2005 resulted in the formation of the Federal German Police, which in addition to the new SA 320 Super Puma continued use the SA 330J. The final curtain fell in August 2008 when the Federal Police said goodbye to their last SA330J.
