The 2A5 version is the stage 2 conversion of the combat effectiveness upgrade) (KWS) known as the Mannheim Configuration. The external modifications comprised additional armour over the frontal arc, second and third generation light track skirts, a new commander's periscope, reversing camera and sliding hatch for the driver. The tanks are exclusively conversions of the Leopard 2A4. The kit also includes components specific to countries, so that the version used in the Netherlands can be built.
